Just when you thought Starbucks had thought of everything, they introduce a whole new way to enjoy your favorite cafe drink at home. I was at the supermarket recently, and saw a woman gazing into the coffee creamer section with a look of joy on her face. She beckoned me over, and I immediately understood why she was so excited. There they were, the new 50.7 ounce Starbucks Discoveries Caramel Macchiato, Caffe Mocha and Vanilla Latte cartons, all lined up and ready to go home with us. I spent a few minutes with my new friend discussing which variety we should try first. She picked the Vanilla Latte, while I settled on the Caramel Macchiato, which I have been enjoying all week. The drink is basically the same as the individual glass bottled beverages that have been around for a few years. The main benefit is that the carton has six servings and at about $5.50, is about the same price as the 4 bottle pack. The first morning I tried the drink, I filled my Mason Jar Tumbler with ice and coffee and drank it on the way to work. The Caramel Macchiato flavor is very good, but maybe a bit too sweet for me and did not deliver the caffeine charge I need to get me going in the morning. Since then, I have enjoyed this as an afternoon treat, served in smaller servings. I would recommend the new Starbucks carton, especially if you are already a fan of the bottled version.
