Staying on a healthy eating routine can be a challenge when you travel. There are so many amazing temptations. Sometimes these indulgences are an essential part of the cultural experience. When I am in France, you better believe I am going to seek out the nearest Ladurée for macarons. In England, I enjoy nothing more than a cream tea and scone. To balance these indulgences, I also enjoy a trip to the farmer's market where I can sample the local specialties. Not only do I get to try the best fruits and vegetables of the region I am traveling, it is also a fun experience. You can watch the locals shopping for the night's meal. And just look at all the lovely colors I saw in this small community market in France! I had never seen so many beautiful variates of fresh olives in one place. The market is also a great place to find souvenirs, like the champagne strawberry jam I got in the wine region of France or the heather honey I found in the Scottish highlands. Enjoying these gourmet goodies back at home is an extra special treat. Be sure to include a visit to the farmer's market during your travels!
