Travel Tuesday: Charleston and Savannah

Sweet Tea Tour: Charleston and Savannah
Covington, GA

This fall, I spent ten days traveling Georgia and South Carolina with my sister.  We had so much fun exploring the South on our Sweet Tea Tour, it is just so different than Arizona.  For one thing, they actually have a Fall season!  We enjoyed our trip and I have so many stories and photos to share with you.  Over the next few weeks, I will share some of my favorite adventures.  In the meantime, here are a few photos.

Magnolia Plantation and Gardens: Charleston, SC

Charleston was a lovely city, but my favorite part of the visit to South Carolina were the plantation homes.  We visited Drayton Hall and Magnolia Plantation, both amazing properties but very different from one another.  Drayton Hall is empty of furnishings, and really lets you see the stark beauty of a preserved plantation home.  Magnolia Plantion is a pretty home, but the real treasure here are the grounds.  There were so many stunning plants and flowers to photograph.  I'd never seen Spanish Moss before, and it really was gorgeous!

My favorite part of the vacation was our time in Savannah.  What a charming city!  I loved the historic buildings, the beautiful city squares and the great shops and restaurants.  I especially loved walking along the Riverfront.  The old cotton mills and cobblestone streets reminded me of being in s a little English seaside town.

Another highlight of the trip was a day spent in the quaint town of Covington, GA.  Jenna and I are huge fans of the CW's Vampire Diaries, and the show is filmed in Covington.    Turns out, a lot of films and shows are filmed here, because the town has so many historic buildings.  We enjoyed a day seeing the beautiful homes and exploring the cafes and antique stores on the main square.   I'll be back soon with posts on some of my favorite spots!
