Celebrating with Owl's Brew Tea Cocktails

Celebrating with Owl's Brew Tea Cocktails

Last weekend was my birthday, and one of the fun things I did to celebrate was try Owl's Brew.  Owl's Brew hand-crafted cocktail mixers are made of fresh brewed tea and are the first blends to be specifically designed to create tea-infused cocktails.  As a tea lover, this sounded right up my alley and I had to give it a try.  I picked up a bottle and set out to make a few different cocktails from the mixer.  The results were tea-licious!

Owl's Brew mixers come in three flavors: Classic (English Breakfast tea with lemon and lime flavors), Coco-Lada (black tea infused with coconut, chai and pineapple) and Pink & Black (Darjeeling tea with strawberry, hibiscus and lemon flavors).  I picked up a bottle of the Pink & Black blend and started my taste taste.  The basic formula for any Owl's Brew cocktail is two parts mixer to one part liquor.  I started my experiment with a 'tini Owl, two parts Pink & Black and one part vodka.  The martini was strong, and the Darjeeling and hibiscus flavors were pronounced.  This would be a great cocktail to serve at a Girls' Night happy hour.

Since I was celebrating my birthday, I popped open a bottle of extra dry champagne and topped it off with Pink & Black.  The result was amazing, a fizzy tea treat perfect for celebrating.  Not too sweet, the drink had a mild tea and fruity flavor.  This would be a great cocktail to serve instead of mimosas at an Easter or Mother's Day brunch.  The final drink I tried was my favorite.  Sticking to the 2 parts mixer to 1 part liquor recipe, I blended Pink & Black with a shot of vodka then filled the rest of the cup with seltzer water.  This was definitely the most drinkable of the three, tasting like a wonderfully spiked glass of my favorite black tea.  Refreshing and subtly fruity, this is a drink you could enjoy at any occasion.  I would definitely recommend Owl's Brew to any tea lover.  My only regret?  Not drinking it out of a tea cup!  There's always next time...
